An observation about those Auckland stations I’ve put down the sidebar of this website:
There seems to be no website for TRN stations Radio Hauraki 99.0FM, Classic Hits 97.4FM or i98FM – nor for The Radio Network itself. TRN stations Cool Blue, ZM and Newstalk ZB have websites, but the others lead you to Netcheck – TRN’s Situations Vacant website. That just seems wrong somehow.
Radioworks has a corporate website of sorts.
The most interesting discovery I made during the process, I thought, was a bit of underhanded domain registration. Click on www.upfm.co.nz – and you’ll be taken straight to the website of their direct competitor, Red FM. Both play predominantly hard house and techno dance music, and although (or perhaps because) they are very, very niched – they are both extremely competitive.
Up FM is an offshoot of George FM, and their real URL is www.upfm.dj – not __.co.nz, as you’d expect. Red FM is owned by Mai FM. Both, interestingly, with strong iwi connections.
To whoever at Mai FM decided to take the phoney domain – and to whoever approved it – that’s just bad manners… and quite probably illegal.
There are also some smaller stations I haven’t included: The Flea, for instance, which doesn’t seem to have a website (does the station still exist?) – and that one in Otahuhu. Still – there seems to be an awful lot, doesn’t there?
