I spent the day at the Hungarian music industry conference, Zipkomm. I was understandably part of the English-speaking section of the conference…
We each spoke for 90 minutes, including questions, which is uncharacteristically long for this sort of thing – but it worked okay and nobody seemed to get too bored.
Some interesting speakers too. Dave from World Circuit was interesting about selling physical products in the digital age, Justus from The Agency Group talked about touring. Simon (above), who runs Brownswood Recordings with Gilles Peterson spoke about international artist management.
Simon and I shared a room together while in Budapest and he was partly the reason I was invited. He teaches on the Music Management MA course at Westminster that Fruszina, who organised the conference, had studied. I guest lectured there once, and Fruszina approached me afterwards to speak at this as well.
A great day – met lots of interesting people and had a really good time. More photos and stories to come…
