This was not how this day was supposed to go
I had it all planned. There was a lot to get through today, but I had it all in order.
First, I was going to finish preparing and then present a research seminar about the work I’d done with the Aftershock Project – and how we ended up developing a digital narrative approach to live music performance through what I call ‘vernacular media’. I didn’t end up doing that.
Then I was to record a video lecture for Matt Grimes’s Music Industries Skills 1st year class, about online music promotion – in lieu of an in-person class on Friday. That didn’t happen either – and I’ll probably have to cheat by directing them to a series of video podcasts I recorded last year.
And I was going to follow that all up with a lovely afternoon tea with the Vice-Chancellor and senior management at the university to celebrate my Readership (along with the other new Readers and Professors). Instead, I had a banana and a cup of tea at home.
