There’s a Bloggers Conference in Chicago next month called SOBCon. To be honest, I’m not even sure what it stands for though I think I can figure out the ‘B’ and the ‘Con’…
UPDATE: I just looked it up. It stands for Successful and Outstanding Bloggers Conference, apparently.
It’s billed as ‘Business School for Bloggers’ and it’s a three day event at which some of the world’s top bloggers and social media professionals gather and talk about how to be good at this sort of stuff. It’s the sort of thing I’d really love to go to, but the kind of event I typically tend to miss out on.
I know I go to a lot of conferences and seminars, but they’re usually music industry ones, and I’m normally the one doing the talking. This would be amazing to just attend and suck up all of the knowledge.
There’s a guy whose blog I read, and he’s one of the real blogging experts. Chris Garrett‘s his name. Anyway, he posted about the conference and launched a competition. The prize was $2000 worth of SOBCon attendance and Chris G consultancy, not to mention a bunch of other goodies.
Cut a long story short – I entered and won.
So that means I get to go to Chicago, do an intensive series of “mastermind meetings” and generally hang out with people who don’t mind if I talk about blogging all the time. Which is cool.
And no – this is not an April Fool’s prank. It’s after 12pm anyway.

Congratulations, Andrew!
Can’t wait to meet you! We’ll be doing some amazing things. I know you’ll add good ideas and energy to the mix.

Hey Andrew – congrats! Chicago sounds like a cool place. It’s on my list of ‘US cities I must visit’.
Hey nice one mate. That’s great news!
Love to visit Chicago, very jealous.
Well done my dear, that’s a great piece of luck! Make sure to go to the Jaipur Palace on Hubbard St…I used to work there! Chicago is great but there’s nothing really going on in the city centre…it’s all out in the suburbs, that’s if you have time to look around. I’m so jealous of you going, now that I think of it. Hmm, I may have to ignore you the next time we meet.
