The Herald’s Peter Griffin has written this article in which he says:
In the next few years we’ll discover that the set-top box will be the hub through which all of the electronic content we indulge in – television, movies, digital radio stations, high-speed internet, telephony and gaming – is delivered to us.
Mostly, he has it right, but once again I have to put up my (look out – here’s the McLuhan nutter) hand and say – “digital radio? set top box? You don’t get it.”
And since when does telephony fall under the broad rubric of ‘entertainment media’?
I think I’ll have to drop the man an email. I’ll give it some thought later in the day. Right now, I’m trying to figure out what I think about Don Brash as the new leader of the opposition (or lack thereof). Correct me if I’m wrong, but surely giving the post to one of the least experienced MPs in parliament is just sad?
I mean – poor Bill English can’t even console himself with “ah, it’s because that Don Brash is so damn charismatic…”
Meanwhile, I’m starting to worry about Salam Pax.
‘Bloodiest day since the occupation began’, says Al-Manar Television (the link is to the Scoop.co.nz website). And Salam, whose blog I became somewhat hooked on – and whose welfare has become of concern to me – since I read the book, hasn’t been heard from since last Wednesday.
Hope he’s okay…
