Kind of a shame, because it was a good idea that cleverly exploited a loophole to the advantage of a minority community. Perhaps it’s evidence of a need for a non-commercial frequency to be allocated for that same community to replace the loss of its low power network.
It’d be interesting if that happened… because it’d open the floodgates for all minority communities in Auckland.
Jobs go as Indian station bows to FM rule change
The Government’s refusal to go back on a surprise frequency rule change spells the end for a Henderson-based Indian language radio station with the loss of 20 jobs.
Apna FM chief executive Shyam Karan said staff were paid their final pay last week, but some continued to work voluntarily.
