This is what I’m missing right now.
It’s weird to look around me here in Birmingham, and then this image – a sight that was on my back doorstep this time last year. As I write this, I’m sucking on a feijoa lolly. And nobody here knows what a feijoa is…
It’s been a busy couple of days with work and marking and students running their radio stations, which have been streaming online all week. There are two stations, designed, run and operated by the students with only information and moral support from me.
The first station is designed specifically for people from Birmingham who no longer live there, but want some sort of connection to home. Good idea for an online-only station. It’s simply called We Love Brum.
The other is a dance music station with an emphasis on remixes and – specifically – a bit more information about the music than you normally get. They’ve called that one Plastic Fantastic.
Both are sounding pretty good, if you ask me. Pretty solid effort.
It rained here today – and the temperature was around the two degrees celsius mark. But when I say ‘rained’ – I mean it was like being squirted with one of those fine mist spray bottles. There’s never actually a proper torrential downpour.
Naturally, I’m dead jealous of all the lovely weather going on in NZ.
