I have stuff. Lots of it. You accumulate stuff over the years. There are all sorts of reasons to hang onto it – some of it’s valuable, some of it’s useful, some of it has sentimental significance and some of it – well, you can’t quite remember what it’s for, but it might come in handy one day. But very few of those reasons to keep the stuff trump the one very good reason to get rid of it: emigration.
As you may have deduced from this blog, I am heading overseas with my family in the not-too-distant future. There’s some stuff I’ll need to keep, but most of what I own is worth more to me as cash equivalent than as physical entity. Portability and all that.
So we’re having a garage sale. Stuff must go. Write it in your diary. It’s next week.
GARAGE SALE
8.30AM SATURDAY 14TH AUGUST
AT THE DUBBER HOUSEHOLD
3A OUTHWAITE LANE
GRAFTON
Note that it will start at 8.30am. Not before. I am not going to play the 7am (or earlier!) Garage Sale game. I know it’s traditional, but I don’t care. Anyone on my doorstep before the sun comes up and I’ve had a cup of coffee and cleaned my teeth gets what they deserve.
As you might expect, CDs will be a major theme of this garage sale. As will books. There’ll be a nice, casual, friendly atmosphere, sausage sizzle, pony rides for the kids, spot prizes and a clown.
Well, okay – there won’t be any of that other stuff, but there will be the casual, friendly atmosphere (as long as you pay attention to the 8.30am thing mentioned earlier).
Come by, say hi, rummage through my stuff and give me your money.

Excellent! Have added it to my diary, and look forward to coming over and having a fossick :)
DebXena
spot you there! Peter M
PS Any vinyl going?
No vinyl for sale, sorry.
Homes have been found for all the records. There were two types. The ones that I don’t want back (a dozen crates chock full) went to one friend to do with what he will. Records I consider indispensible (less than a boxful – mostly On-U Sound stuff) has gone to another friend to enjoy in my absence and keep in relative safety.
Listen to the right shows, and you might just hear a bit more Dub Syndicate, Mark Stewart and Singers & Players on the radio in the coming months…
