Today, through simple enthusiasm, I became involved in a new and potentially fascinating research project with Dr. Paul Long at UCE: Gig Fliers.
It’s quite simple really. Essentially, we’re looking to collect and research fliers for live popular music events, regardless of genre. We’ll examine them, think about them, write about them and place them tidily in some sort of preservation and archive system. We’ll probably even show them to people from time to time.
If you’ve produced a flier, either professionally or for love, you know somebody who’s done that sort of thing and might have one or two lying around – or if you just happened to find one you think might be interesting for us, please pop it in the post. We’ll be very grateful.
And spread the word – we want to cast the net far and wide. We want to know what’s going on in the world of music from Paris to LA, Bognor Regis to Eketahuna.
