Jake now has his own domain name (jakedubber.com) and pretty much free rein to do whatever he wants there. But there are a couple of rules…
When Jake blogs, his writing is shown up to be really pretty good. He has a nice turn of phrase, a quick wit and an unusual way of looking at the world.
But he doesn’t often blog.
His interest in blogging extends to the technical. He likes to get in and mess around with the template, change the code, make it do things it wasn’t designed to do – that sort of thing. But there’s only so much you can do with the free WordPress site. In order to really get your hands dirty (metaphorically speaking) you have to have your own hosted site.
So this week, I’ve shelled out for two years of www.jakedubber.com and hosting on GoDaddy, which is the provider I use for this site.
The deal is that he has to write a blog post every week about what he’s been up to. If he goes a week without a blog post, he pays me £2. Hopefully that and the entirely customisable site will be sufficient incentive to get his writing juices flowing.
