Ah, youth. Fun and games. Frivolity and hi-jinks. Frisbees, hacky sack, keepy-uppy – and pelting complete strangers with water balloons while hurtling past in a speeding car. Man, that hurt.

I was just walking home from the village. I’d popped in to get some bread – headphones on, listening to Wallace’s breakfast show on the iPod, when from out of nowhere, what felt like a very wet rock hit me square in the chest.

It very nearly knocked me down. I was winded for a few minutes. I was absolutely drenched. I have a bruise in the centre of my chest to show for it.

I’ve been in Blair’s Britain for 18 months now – so I suppose it was overdue.

I just got ASBO‘d.
