Debrecen Jazz Group

Finally got a chance today to listen to some of that rare 70s Hungarian jazz-funk vinyl I picked up last week in Budapest. This one’s on the state-owned record label Pepita and it’s by the Debrecen Jazz Group. Fender Rhodes, electric violin and really CTI-ish jazzy treatments of Hungarian folk songs. Awesome stuff.

It’s in amazing condition too. Sounds great and has the original insert with the liner notes. Here’s a picture of the cover – and the insert.

I would not have even thought to pick this one up. Thankfully, I had a knowledgeable guide. Exactly my sort of thing.
