Clutch is a Scottish musician and theatre set carpenter based in Birmingham, and is rapidly becoming a very good friend. He’s the lead singer/songwriter/guitarist from the band (x) is greater than (y) - of whom I have become a rather evangelistic fan (though the website needs serious work).

We initially bonded over a rather nice bottle of Talisker, though he balked at the realisation that all I was after was a bit of crass market research.

Since then, we’ve met to discuss a number of things, generally over a glass or two of single malt. We share an enthusiasm for good music, by which I mean the sort of music that rewards the attentive listener with a richness and complexity that less engaged observers might find initially off-putting, but which connoisseurs find immensely gratifying.

Much like the scotch, really.
