Tah-dah! It’s a Spore creature

Somehow, alongside a bunch of celebrities and A-list bloggers, I was invited to have a play with the Spore Creature Creator.

Spore is a new game developed by Will Wright - the guy who came up with The Sims and Sim City. Watch this video to get a sense of what it will do - pretty amazing.

I’ve been reading about it for a long time in Jake’s PC Gamer magazine, and it really looks pretty awesome. Essentially, you create creatures and they develop colonies and live their lives.

But the trick (and this is the really clever bit) is that all of the game’s creatures are created by the users.

Go cat plays Go

I played Go against Dan again last night. I lost quite catastrophically. The less said about that, the better. But his cat wanted to get into the game. There’s a LOLcat waiting to happen, I thought - and took some photos. But I’m coming up blank on captions. Ideas?

I played a Game of Go with my friend Dan last night. He’s slightly better at it than I am, so although he kindly made a few silly mistakes that allowed me to gain some advantage around the edges, he pretty much took out the centre of the board and ran away with the game.

I tried to influence the outcome by giving him whisky, but since I had to drink it as well so that he wouldn’t suspect anything, the potential advantage was lost.

Still… we had a good time and have arranged to have another crack at it in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, is there nobody else in this town who plays Go? Say… someone that I’m slightly better than?
