Update: My regularly-toed nephew 1

My nephew Asher has had his extra toe removed now. It all went very well, by all accounts. That’s a pretty awesome bandage though. Kerryn sent this photo through, and I thought it right that I should let you in on how that particular story ended.

T.S.M.M.M.W.T.T.D. by Jake Dubber 0

Jake’s been working hard on this new track, and it’s finally at a place where he’s ready to let the world hear it. His learning curve on this stuff is so exponentially rapid, it’s amazing. Play loud.

We did a spot of househunting today. Yep – still looking. This one was nice, but not right. Our non-negotiables are: 3 double bedrooms (or more if possible, actually), double glazing, gas central heating (with a decent, reliable boiler) good shower (not electric), good kitchen – preferably gas hobs and electric stove. Dinner at our friend Jo’s – always a very serious affair We don’t have too many New Zealand friends in Britain – so it’s nice to sometimes just hang out and just be kiwis. It was a very sensible and polite dinner party, and in no way were there any foodfights, communal icecream, musical beer [...]

Looking for a place to live 5

Nothing fancy, you understand… (Photo by R.Duran) We’re moving house. Or at least – we’d like to. And not far either. The area we live is pretty much spot on for us right now. It’s just that all of the little niggly things about the house we’re in at the moment are starting to become [...]

Sunday ritual: pint of lager, salt and vinegar crisps and crushing defeat Jake and I have kind of made Sunday afternoon at the local pub for a pint and a game of chess our regular thing. Normally, Jake can beat me at chess pretty easily – but over the last three weeks, I’ve won twice [...]
