Jake releases his June album

The excitement in our house this week is the release of (my son) Jake’s album ‘June’. He started on a project at the beginning of this year to make music, and release whatever he’d finished at the end of every three months. So the first of these was a sort of extended EP called ‘March‘, which has some great tunes on it.

The new one is a full album – with five bonus tracks, no less.

The third and fourth in the series – September and December – will follow, and after that – well, perhaps he’ll get to work on something else.

Learning out loud. Very loud.
Jake’s idea is to use the year’s project to learn music production by ‘growing up in public’. But it’s been a very fast learning curve, and people are already saying extremely positive things about the work – and he’s even starting to collaborate with established and popular artists.

The guest vocal by Matic Mouth from Reverend Sound System was a real coup…

And if you do download it, you also get the five bonus tracks, including a fantastic remix he’s done with his friend Jack (under the name ‘Leviathan’) for local indie band Empire’s ‘We’re From Birmingham’. Here’s the original version for reference.

The upshot is that it’s a very good electronic and dubstep record that deserves to be heard. You can listen to it here, or download it on Bandcamp. You can pay whatever you want should you wish to, or get it completely for free if you’d like. He’d just rather you had it either way.

Obviously, we’re very proud. Tell your friends.
