So here we are in India then

India
Arrivals, Kolkata International Airport.

After some long flights, delays and no sleep, Jez Collins, Ruth Daniels and I arrived in Calcutta/Kolkata. We’re staying a couple of days in a massive and beautiful apartment near the centre of town, and have already been made to feel very welcome.

It’s very warm, as you might expect – and the traffic outside is chaotic with continuous horn-honking. We’ve been keeping a bit of a video diary, and I look forward to getting some of that stuff up soon, but our schedule is pretty hectic and access to the internet not always guaranteed.

We were picked up at the airport by Vijay from Only Much Louder and Tasneem from the British Council, our hosts here in India – and taken on a rather hair-raising trip through the city to get to where we’re staying.

Last night was a feast with a couple of other British music industry types, and the family / band who are putting us up while we’re here in town.

We’re spending today in Calcutta with meetings and meals with all sorts of interesting people, and then tomorrow, we’re in a plane again heading North. Hope to find a bit more time to write, but basically all is well (all is actually pretty amazing actually) and my breakfast of dosa is calling.

More soon.
