Thanks, Mike

I've recently been looking at internet security, and I have turned on the Mac inbuilt firewall (in System Preferences > Security). Seems to do the job just fine.

No viruses, spyware or anything else to date...

Hello Andrew, interesting reading. As a recent mac convert I'm wondering about your approach to 'Internet safety'.... do you use/endorse/require any firewall, flitering etc?

I find it hard to believe, as some seem to claim, that macs are immune to hacks attacks and virus'.

Regards! Mike

(P.S. Excellent taste in movies!! I'm a big Wim Wenders fan, though Paris, Texas would be in my top 5 movies over Wings of Desire. The soundtrack is one of the greats imo!)

I use http://www.downthemall.net/ quite a bit - lets you download all or a subset of the links or images contained in a webpage.
Excellent for mp3 blog stripping

Great list. I have my eye on a 24" beast myself (working on a 3-year-old 17", first-generation iMac for now...)

I checked out GhostAction, and it says Tiger only (Leopard-info link was broken)...

Not a huge deal, though; I found Things the other day, and fell in love. And it has been a long search, too.

@Peter Mac - I go with 320kbps constant bitrate. I've had the arguments about this for 5 years now - and that's what I've ended up settling on as my default, for better or worse...

Yep - I'd downloaded it but hadn't really had a play. I was skeptical at first. What do I want something that can manipulate images for? It's already pretty easy...

OMG - Skitch rocks.

Skitch! Skitch! I'm sure you mentioned this before but it's the most essential piece of kit for this blogger.

I'm liking the "SuperDuper!" program - don't suppose there's a Windows equivalent?
