The ‘grown-ups’ team beating Jake at pool
Got to hook up with my youngest sister-in-law this evening. Kelly is living in Auckland at the moment after long stretches in Wanganui and Christchurch. It was really good to see her and catch up. I took Jake with me, and we had Burger Fuel in Ponsonby, then popped into Santos for a game of pool. Kelly and I won against Jake, but only by two balls. I think I was the weakest link.
We then dropped Jake home and went looking for somewhere to go and have a cup of coffee. A bit of a tiki tour later, we ended up back in Ponsonby Road at Estasi, where they gave us a table so we could just drink coffee, sit and chat about life, the universe and everything.
I hadn’t seen Kelly for a few years, and I’m not very good at chatting on the phone, so we hadn’t really had a decent talk for ages. We’ve always got on quite well, and it was nice to just spend a few hours nattering.
We moved on from Estasi at closing time, and found a nearby bar with a quiet corner. Sadly, both of us were driving back from our meeting point: Kelly to the North Shore, me to Howick — so sitting around and having a few drinks was, unfortunately, out of the question.
Still – sounds like everything’s on track for her at the moment. And, it turns out, it sounds like everything’s pretty much on track for me too. It’s nice to get external confirmation that things seem to be going well…
Having a wonderful time, wish you were here.
