Every couple of years, I seem to reinvent this blog. And it’s time I did it again.
For the past few months, The Wireless hasn’t really known what to be. I’ve talked about gigs I’ve been to. I’ve talked about friends and family. I’ve talked about odd things I’ve noticed — but the music technology stuff, which has taken up the bulk of my attention for the last year or so, has all moved over to the New Music Strategies website.
It was exactly the right thing to do — but it has left The Wireless somewhat directionless. So I gave it some thought. And it takes me a long time to think.
Next week, I’ll be closing down the Wireless in its existing form with my roundup of favourite music from the year. In 2007 (which, I should say, is only a few weeks away), The Wireless will be here, but it will be different.
It will be more regular, more interesting and more focused. It will still be me, but it will have a purpose — and it will come with something to listen to.
So… in the meantime, thanks for reading and sticking with it. I have a disproportionate number of readers given the time and energy that has been directed towards the blog in recent months, so I’m very grateful. Your persistence in the hopes that it would one day warrant such interest is about to be rewarded.
