Dinner with friends… and afterwards, while Bobbie, Chris and Jake played Euchre, Paul and I started a game of Go, accompanied by a very nice homemade fudge.
Paul’s a software designer and a strategic thinker. Quite a challenge – and I got myself into trouble more than once.
After a bottle of dessert wine (a very nice Collards), a brandy and a good couple of hours of play, it was getting late – so we decided to continue the game online. Out came the digital camera, Paul and Chris emailed me the above shot, and I’ll set my board up so we can continue via email.
I’m black. It’s my move. Suggestions welcomed. A to S is up the vertical axis, 1-19 along the horizontal. I’m considering D-13.
This might take a while. I’ll let you know how we get on.

I was wondering why it was taking a couple of days for Paul to respond to my move.
“Outsmarted!” I thought…
“He’s stumped!”
No – apparently he was just coding a piece of software to display the board and generate a Go movie to represent the moves as they happen, and save the current state of play. Given that I’ve shifted the board and knocked the pieces out of place twice, I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s come up with.
