Sad news: I’ve had to pass up an interview with Roy Ayers!
I console myself with the knowledge that I’ve passed it to a friend who deserves it more than I do.
Jubt Avery used to co-host ‘The Main Ingredient’ on bFM and he knows more about Roy Ayers and has a longer history with his music than I do. Jubt’s going to record the interview, and I’ll play it on my show on George FM… but all the same, I’m a little jealous. Still, I wouldn’t trade Jake’s first Kendo grading for it.
Saturday was the Christmas in the Park thing. Jake and his friend Henry did their usual lemonade stand for the third year in a row – and made $30 between them. The ingredients probably cost that much, but let’s not dampen their entrepreneurial spirit just yet.
It’s especially helpful when you start getting the celebrity clients. Apparently this short guy has something to do with sport. Captain of some team or another. You wouldn’t pick it from the pink pillow with the butterfly on it…
In other news, I’ve discovered this thing called Plaxo which, if you happen to run Windows XP with Outlook, is a terribly useful little app. It asks all the people in your contact database to check and amend their own details, and then updates them automatically. Mostly, I just had people’s email addresses. Now I can phone them, or they’ve moved on and I now know their new work and job title – all sorts of things. Hard to keep track of 839 people without it – and only one person so far has been cagey about whether it was a nasty trawler for email addresses or if it really came from me deliberately. That was easily explained and nobody has been peeved by it, as far as I can tell. Recommended.
It’s well and truly summer. I’m enjoying this sunshine. I’m enjoying this heat. I’m not enjoying the humidity that came with it. That’s what happens when you live in a subtropical zone…
