Koop’s jazz coup
An interesting piece about the place of jazz in the contemporary dance music scene, using a visit to Toronto by Scandinavian act Koop (who’ve released one of the best – albeit shortest – albums of the year, ‘Waltz for Koop’ [JCR]) as a springboard into the topic.
Jazz: you may not be hearing it on commercial radio or on the larger dancefloors, but there’s no question that the music — both old and new — has grown over the past decade to become a strong force in the underground and well beyond.
